Dear colleagues:

We would like to take this opportunity to provide an update on the progress of the upcoming Western Trace Organics Workshop. We currently have approximately 12-14 presentations committed to. These include four application based presentations by instrument companies (Perkin Elmer, Agilent and Varian) on GCMS and LCMS. More instrument companies are expected to present by the time we finalize the schedule. As well, presentations on the following are expected:

  • Evaluation of LC-negative ion Electrospray MS for determination of selected resin acids in river water
  • Biodegradation of two resin acids in Saale River water, Germany
  • Photodegradation of Atrazine and Ametryne in Agricultural Soils and Groundwater
  • Discharge from Barbados' Sugar Cane Plantations (poster)
  • Eugenol in Fish Tissue
  • Trace Level Analysis of Avermectins in Various Food Matrices by HPLC/MS
  • Determination of Multiresidue of Antibiotics in Swine Manure Using LC/MS/MS
  • Rapid Method Development for Trace Antibiotic Determination in Food Matrices Using LC/MS/MS
  • SPME/GCMS method for Taste and Odour Compounds in Water
  • Hydrocarbon Identification - A Detective Story
  • Sterol Method Development Using SPE/GCMS
We are still looking for more papers and more attendees, and remember, this is an informal session and papers on work in progress are welcome too.

It should also be noted that due to the generosity of our Vendor Sponsors, we can finally tell you that the "social event to be decided at a later date" is going to be a dinner cruise around beautiful Vancouver Harbor. Also included in the cost of your registration fee is a lunch on-site, all coffee breaks and the Sunday evening hospitality suite.

If this isn't enough to convince you, we are throwing in a $50 gift certificate for a fine Vancouver restaurant as a draw prize for those who register (and pay) early. In case you don't recall the cut-off date for early registration is February 28th, and a registration form was included with the last announcement.

If you didn't receive it or need another please contact Angelo DiCicco of the organizing committee.
